I love having Mondays off – not only does it lengthen the weekend it shortens the week as well. The extra day day gives me some extra time that I desperately need at the moment – 24 extra hours to do with as I chose, no commitments to distract me.

But since we lost an hour over the weekend – the clocks went forward and the night became shorter – I really only gained 23 hours, but that is still a gift I won’t say no to.

Sadly, instead of going out and enjoying the Easterly sunshine, I am still stuck behind my desk, desperately trying to catch up with my studies and my work. However, at least, I cam look out my window and enjoy the light that come streaming in.

And while of course I’d love to run out and play there is something quite inspiring about looking up and out into the sunshine, work just becomes that little bit easier. The only problem is, time is passing by too quickly – the lost hour seems to have invited a few friends and suddenly the week feels too short, as I schedule my appointments and try and fit everything in.

Daylight saving time: Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket.

short week, long list

Yesterday was a bank holiday here in Ireland turning a long week into a short one. But this morning, as I was writing up my to-do-list, I discovered that I have more to do than I thought and a long list and a a short week isn’t really a good combination.

However as the rain has decided to return and is beating down against my window it makes being stuck behind my desk a little bit easier. After all staying indoors is so much harder when sun is beckoning you out to play.

On the bright side, my window boxes are loving the rain. On Sunday afternoon I took the time to tidy them up and plant some flowers. Now all I have to do is to wait for them to bloom and turn the path outside my door into a little urban garden.

So for now I will steadily work my way through my long list and hope the short week doesn’t pass too quickly. And maybe the sun will return allowing me to spend a few moments on my blue bench.
