Eureka, a small goal achieved and I feel good about it. The list on my desk may still be as long as my face when I look at it but I was able to fell the sense of accomplishment this early this morning.
I haven’t finished my novel nor my stacks of paperwork, I didn’t clean the floors even if they are in desperate need of a good scrub and the laundry is still waiting to be washed. But the ants that have been my constant visitors for a few weeks now have finally disappeared. I don’t know if it was the cloves, the mint oil (thanks Lill and Jill) or my persistent squashing but the ants have finally given is and left the building.
The downside to laying my bandana down and ending my quest for an ant-free home is the fact that I will now have to find a new hobby to entertain myself with: ant-ertainment out entertainment in. Sadly with the summer around the corner most of the TV shows I follow are on hiatus which leaves long stretches of non-ant hunting hours empty waiting to be filled. Even with on-demand TV the selection is limited and not really that interesting if you are broke and don’t want to buy a few hours of distraction.
This leaves books which I do have a stack of under my bedside table but there really are only so many pages I can read in a day, a book a week is good going as it is. And although the calendar says Summer the weather has a different opinion which makes out-door activities not only hard to plan but unpleasant to endure, so need a flexible approach. I could spend even more time on the computer but to be honest my eyes are already filled with enough bits, bites and pixels to last me a life time.
But I have been thinking about a new goal: maybe I could pick up my paintbrush again, unpack my salsa dancing shoes or finally learn how to use my sewing machine and I could go to the gym more too.
So as I relax my squishing finger, pack away my munition and contemplate what to do with my time I let put a sigh of contentment and celebrate my attainment with a homemade cupcake and a cup of tea.
