We all know that “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” or so they say. I have no idea if that is true or not but I do know that the word break-fast literally means to interrupt those hours of non-eating.
The benefit of that is that this kick-starts your metabolism which in turn raves-up your engine, so to speak, burning calories and setting the pace for the rest of the day. Of course this does depend on what you have for breakfast, a sugary donuts or a muesli bar isn’t really going to work, but wholegrain toast, sugar-free muesli and porridge, fruit are just a few options that do.
I like a little bit of variety in the mornings but I do tend to tend to stick to muesli or porridge. And especially now, with the weather being so wet and miserable outside, a hot bowl of porridge with some cranberries and cinnamon and a steaming cup of tea always seems to warm my spirits and my tummy at the same time.
I went to a restaurant that serves ‘breakfast at any time‘. So I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.

I just realized that for most of the past week I have been eating dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. I like the sound of yours! 8)

That is odd … Why?

I had not thought a lot about it until I read your post. I think the thought process in the morning is I need a bit of protein…so I’ll have some chicken I cooked up on the weekend. At night it may be whatever seems quick and effortless.

I see well if you want protein maybe do eggs in the morning… Like scramble them or something. You see, while I am more if a savoury person I ole to start my day sweet…

I love berries and yogurt in the morning along with a whole wheat English muffin. But I love a hot bowl of oatmeal, too.

Yes yummy but in the winter I really like getting something warm into before I start the day

Now that the weather in Maine has gotten cooler I find myself craving the same as you and in the summer I rarely eat oatmeal going for a smoothie instead.

Same here cold in the summer warm in the winter

Oh dear…I’m not a breakfast eater. I like a large mocha latte for breakfast and an early lunch. Somehow that works for me. If I eat first thing it turns my day upside down.

Not sure if it is the “most important” meal of the day or not, either (but it probably is). However, I think it’s “the best” meal of the day. I love breakfast. Especially on the weekends, when it can be enjoyed slowly…and with the weekend newspaper.

So with you on That One… An egg some toast yogurt and the paper… Perfect start to the day

the only thing I would add to the porridge and tea is some buttered toast, no jam, just the butter, bread and porridge, maybe I will make that for myself for dinner instead of the leftover chicken barley soup I will give to my hubby. Great post, it made me hungry… DAF
