With the sun shining in through my window, tickling my prisms and making rainbows dance on my walls I can’t help but feel really summery today. I know I should be out and about enjoying the warmth of the sun on my skin but with hay-fever still visiting I have been enjoying a lazy morning in my PJs making the last bit of jam.
While I was chopping and cutting up the last of the peaches I danced around my tiny kitchen to the soundtrack of Dirty Dancing. I twirled to I’ve had the time of my Life, shimmied to Hey Baby and sang along to them all at the top of my voice, hoping the neighbours were out.
As I was labeling the hot sticky jam into the jars I had lined up on the kitchen counter I couldn’t help but giggle when Eric Carmen’s silky voice suddenly crooned Hungry Eyes at me. I know he didn’t mean my jam but it was so fitting and I spilled lots of the hot sweet fluid as my giggles made my hands shake.
But I think it’s time to get dressed now, put my pinny in the wash and scrub the sugar off my hands, after all it is Saturday and who knows what can happen when the sun is high in the sky and everyone is in a good mood.
At first, I only laughed at myself. Then I noticed that life itself is amusing. I’ve been in a generally good mood ever since.

It is amazing how many ways music can add to our lives. Perhaps I shall go dancing in the street. 8)
yes do bet you’ll meet loads of new and weird people
Dirty Dancing is one of my all-time faves! I too dance around my place as I work – fun stuff!
yes and even if it looks silly it makes you happy
Silly? Nah, I always imagine that the producers of those dancing shows are shaking their heads, wondering how they missed out on me. 😉
🙂 … I’d be more the comic relief
Sounds like a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. But if I tried that, I’d have a 12- and 15-year-old boy pointing and laughing, saying, “Ha! Look at mom dancing around and spilling jam. She’s so lame!” So, I’ll have to enjoy your joy by proxy. 🙂
well let them do it too then … come on boys and spilling jam that has to be fun 🙂 … but you are always welcome to join me in my silliness, no bit lame
Oh, good. 🙂
Awww.. Jeny (I hope I can call you that), I am sure how you are feeling Summery! happens with me too at times! I think I can dance to every beat with my work going on.. hence I can declare myself as a good dirty dancer. LOL.
Hope you get out and get some of the sun for your skin 😉
Love,
-Naima.

Wow! Had fun?? 😉
-Naima.

Hahaha 😀 No issues, I am sure ya had a good time at least 🙂
I did … but it was just a little bland so nothing exciting to talk about and then I think thoughts of my dad were more important 🙂 … maybe I can recycle it when I have nothing else to say
What did he say by the way?? 😉
who he?
Your dad .
my dad is dead, he last Friday a year ago so he can’t really say much … am a bit confused
Oppsiee.. I am sorry! I think I misunderstood something.
Sorry.
don’t worry so easy to do .. 🙂
Jam, music, jammies and dancing. Sounds like a great Saturday to me. :).
oh it was as it was followed by beach and sun
You’re so lucky to have the beach near to where you live. Growing up, I spent the summers by the beach in Kilkee and loved it. Live miles away from the nearest beach now.
only about 20min on the bike … and yes I love it
Nice.
🙂
Your post was the perfect antidote to food poisoning and a long, tortured night. Thanks for the lift!
lol … hope you are feeling better
Sounds fun! I love that quote! Enjoy your Sunday!
I will … Saturday is nearly over so we will see if this bi-polar weather continues
